East Java Vice Governor Emil Elestianto Dardak stated that East Java hosts various music events set against scenic tourist destinations, such as Jazz Gunung, which is being held in the Bromo area this year.
Organized annually by Jazz Gunung Indonesia, this event has been held 17 times and is noted for enhancing the positive image of East Java’s tourism, particularly the iconic Bromo destination.
“The impact goes beyond simply attracting travelers who want to watch the show; it builds our brand image. Especially when videos of Jazz Gunung also showcase the breathtaking landscape of our tourism. This is what makes tourism in East Java so vibrant,” said Emil Dardak during the Jazz Gunung Series 2 Press Conference at Taman Budaya Cak Durasim, Surabaya, on Thursday (July 24, 2025).
Emil mentioned that organizing such an event is no small feat.
Therefore, he expressed his appreciation for the consistency of Jazz Gunung and its contribution to promoting East Java tourism, particularly offering a unique romantic experience of enjoying Mount Bromo. Moreover, the audience of Jazz Gunung comprises both domestic and international travelers.
“This serves as a signature event that adds color to tourism in both Bromo and East Java. When global travelers wish to visit various countries, they invariably mention destinations like Bromo,” he remarked.
He believes that the carefully curated talent lineup, combined with a unique romantic ambiance, will make the event an unforgettable experience for music enthusiasts.
Furthermore, he stated that this creative event not only elevates the tourism image of East Java but also delivers positive impacts to the cultural and creative economy sectors in the region.
“In my view, this brings a tremendously positive impact to our tourism, our image in terms of culture, and the creative economy. Especially since this event is a fixture on the East Java tourism calendar,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sigit Pramono, Founder of Jazz Gunung Indonesia, shared that the music event will take place on the open-air stage at Jiwa Jawa Resort Bromo, from Friday (July 25, 2025) to Saturday (July 26, 2025).
This BRI Jazz Gunung series also features Jazz Camp, a residency program that gathers young musicians passionate about jazz to learn together over several days under the guidance of seasoned artists.
Following the conclusion of Series 1 and Series 2 in Bromo, the music event series in East Java will continue with Jazz Gunung Series 3 Ijen, scheduled to be held at Taman Gandrung Terakota, Banyuwangi, in August 2025.
“Featuring a lineup of performers, vocalists, and bands just as captivating as the first series,” he explained.
