Ceramic from Fired Clay

Terracotta, also known as pottery or fired clay, is a type of ceramic produced by firing at a lower temperature (below or a maximum of 1,000 degrees Celsius).

The name terracotta (terra cotta in Italian or terra cocta in Latin) also refers to the reddish color resulting from the firing process and its porous surface.

Terracotta in the form of Gandrung dancers, chickens, water urns/jars (padasan/gentong), and traditional water jugs (kendi) can be easily found throughout the garden and paddy field areas. The philosophy and uniqueness of this site lie in the fragile nature of terracotta itself:

β€œNothing is eternal in this life. From the earth, back to the earth.”
