The Front Section of a Joglo House
Banyuwangi's arts and culture were born from ethnic diversity. There are seven major ethnic groups living harmoniously side by side in Banyuwangi: the Osing, Mataram Javanese, Madurese, Balinese, Mandar, Chinese, and Arab communities.
This structure is a part of the Joglo House (the traditional house of the Javanese people) known as the Pendopo. This section is located at the front of the house and is typically used for formal activities, such as meetings, shadow puppet (wayang kulit) performances, traditional dances, and cultural ceremonies. The timber used in its construction is teak wood aged over 50 years.
